Molasses Drop Cookies
This recipe is from a neighbor we had when I was a little boy in Milnesville, Pa. This was a small mining town just north of Hazelton, Pa. Ada & Charlie Goodwin lived in the left side of the double house on the north side of then road.
Ingredients
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup baking molasses
- 1 tsp cinammon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 2 tsp baking soda in 1 cu boiling water
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 5 cups flour or more if needed
Directions
- Drop by tsp on greased cookie sheet
- Sprinkle with sugar
These are all the directions on the recipe. No time or temperature. I would suspect that the oven temperature was 350 degrees. Baking time varies depending on the size of the cookies. As with all dark cookies, they are a bugger to determine when they are done.
